Description: DOD-confirmed civilian and military leaders have some of the most important and impactful positions in our government. The Senate Armed Services Committee handles the nominations for these top national security positions, and it is vital to get the most highly qualified civilian and military leaders confirmed. How does America get the best people into these critical national security positions despite a broken confirmation process? Please join CSIS and Major General Arnold Punaro, USMC (Ret.), former Staff Director of the Senate Armed Service Committee and author of IF CONFIRMED: An Insider’s View of the National Security Confirmation Process, for a discussion about the complexities and challenges of the Senate confirmation process, plus recommendations to fix it, with experts who have lived it. Panelists include former Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Senator Sam Nunn; former Vice Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Senator Saxby Chambliss; and former Commandant of the Marine Corps, Supreme Allied Commander Europe, and National Security Advisor, General Jim Jones, USMC (Ret.). The discussion will be moderated by award-winning Fox News Chief National Security correspondent Jennifer Griffin. All profits from the book will be donated to the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation. Copies of  IF CONFIRMED will be available for guests to purchase at the event.
