Description: Please join the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) for a discussion on the importance of cyber wargames and exercises. As the cyber threat landscape continuous to evolve, it has become difficult for public and private sector entities to adequately anticipate and prepare for different types of threats that might impact their networks and trust in their respective institutions. That’s where cyber games come in. Today’s cyber games not only help educate players about the nature of different types of threats, but they also allow participants to clearly identify how they might adjust their real-world incident response plans to enhance resilience and mitigate the consequences of certain threats. The program will start with a presentation on a recent CSIS cyber exercise that was designed to show how different types of experts are thinking about future threats and challenges to federal networks. Following the presentation, Dr. Ben Jensen (Senior Fellow for Gaming, Future War, and Strategy, CSIS) will moderate a panel that will showcase the advancements in cyber game design and the importance of these exercises to government, industry and academia. The panel will include Dr. Nina Kollars (Associate Professor, Cyber and Innovation Policy Institute, U.S. Naval War College), Dr. Jacquelyn Schneider (Director, Wargaming and Crisis Simulation Initiative, Hoover Institution), and Yasir Atalan (Researcher, CSIS). Emily Harding (Deputy Director and Senior Fellow, International Security Program, CSIS) will deliver closing remarks.
