Description: Please join the Freeman Chair in China Studies for a discussion with Chun Han Wong about his new book, Party of One: The Rise of Xi Jinping and China’s Superpower Future (Simon & Schuster, 2023). Wong has covered China for the Wall Street Journal since 2014, examining elite politics, Communist Party doctrine, and defense and diplomatic affairs. In Party of One, Wong draws on in-depth analysis of official speeches and documents and personal conversations with academics, political elites, and diplomats to analyze Xi’s ascendance to power and vision for China in the decades to come. Wong will be joined in conversation by Neil Thomas, Fellow for Chinese Politics at the Asia Society Policy Institute’s Center for China Analysis, and Sheena Greitens, Visiting Associate Professor of Research in Indo-Pacific Security at the U.S. Army War College. CSIS Freeman Chair in China Studies Jude Blanchette, will moderate the discussion.
