Hayden Center for Intelligence\, Policy\, and International Security invites you to join us Tuesday\, October 15th at 7 pm EST for our second fall semester event entitled October 7th Fallout: One Year Later. \nThe event will cover the fallout from October 7th\, when the terrorist group Hamas murdered 1\,200 civilians\, including 40 Americans. The panel will explore the rising tensions between Israel\, Iran\, and Iran’s proxies: Hamas\, Hezbollah\, and the Houthis. The panel will also discuss the future of U.S. Middle East policy\, diplomacy\, and intelligence\, and the defense and military implications. \nOur panelists have storied careers in U.S. policy\, diplomacy\, and intelligence. \nModerator: David Priess served at the CIA during the Clinton and George W. Bush administrations as an intelligence officer\, manager\, and daily intelligence briefer as well as at the State Department as a desk officer in the Near East Bureau. Priess’ career focused on Middle Eastern politics and terrorism. Priess has also filled in as the PDB briefer for the National Security Advisor\, the Deputy National Security Advisor\, and the CIA’s Deputy Director. A senior fellow at the Hayden Center\, Priess is currently Director of Intelligence at Bedrock Knowledge\, Inc. and the author of two books: The President’s Book of Secrets and How To Get Rid of a President\, and frequent commentator in print and on television about national security issues. \nGuest: Ambassador Dennis Ross played a leading role in shaping U.S. involvement in the Middle East peace process\, dealing directly with the parties as the U.S. point man in both the George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton administrations. Amb. Ross also served as director of the State Department’s Policy Planning Staff in the first Bush administration. Currently\, Amb. Ross is the counselor and William Davidson Distinguished Fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. \nGuest: Nancy Youssef is a national security correspondent for The Wall Street Journal focused on the US military and the Arab world. An award-winning reporter\, she has previously worked at The Daily Beast\, BuzzFeed News\, and McClatchy Newspapers. Youssef is recognized for her coverage of international conflicts and military operations\, including the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. \nGuest: Marc Polymeropoulos worked for 26 years at the CIA before retiring in July 2019 at the Senior Intelligence Service level. He specialized in counterterrorism\, the Middle East and South Asia\, including extensive time in Iraq and Afghanistan.
